Looking for faithful men! This could be the church sign that each one should post at the sanctuary entrance door. It's incredible how the children of God have lost this virtue. After a strong meditation over the subject, I have reached a concluding thought that the motive of such a virtue loss, it is due to the selfishness and proud attitude that is developing within the church. The truth is, if there's any faithfulness in the church today: - Fidelity to others is better than to ourselves, but that is not faithfulness, only self-personal interest and longings for self-exaltation.
“Let your waist be girded and your lamps burning; and you yourselves be like men who wait for their master, when he will return from the wedding, that when he comes and knocks they may open to him immediately. Blessed are those servants whom the master, when he comes, will find watching. Assuredly, I say to you that he will gird himself and have them sit down to eat, and will come and serve them.
And if he should come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants. But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.”
Then Peter said to Him, “Lord, do You speak this parable only to us, or to all people?”
And the Lord said, “Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his master will make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of food in due season? Blessed is that servant whom his master will find so doing when he comes. Truly, I say to you that he will make him ruler over all that he has. But if that servant says in his heart, ‘My master is delaying his coming,’ and begins to beat the male and female servants, and to eat and drink and be drunk, the master of that servant will come on a day when he is not looking for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in two and appoint him his portion with the unbelievers. (Luke 12:35-46, New King James Version)
FAITHFULNESS
1. f. Loyalty, Observance of the faith that one owes to the other fellow man.
2. Pontuality, accuracy in the duty of something.
(Dicionário Real da Academia Espanhola)
Faithfulness as defined very well by this dictionary, means loyalty to one person to the other one and, in christianity, to God as well, so no one can be faithful, if there isn’t any other person to give that loyalty away, and also, the instructions which the other person sends are practiced with accuracy. Anyone would say that faithfulness is only due to God and not to men alone, this has always been the best excuse for that person to do what it is pleasant and felt well with his own self, nevertheless the Word of God reveals us another thing. And if faithfulness is only due to God, so why are the authorities needed, why are the ministries for, and what is the structural order and the government of the church, and why someone can administrate discipline, if there is any recognition of the necessity of faithfulness in the church? Colossians 1:7; 1 Corinthians 4:1-2, 17; Philippians 4:3.
That is evident enough that in the first place our faithfulness is due to God, and that means that we commit ourselves to obey to every precepts and commandments, that's why we can figure it out that being faithful to God is the same thing as being obedient to God. Then, why is there a rebellious spirit and a lack of submission related to the authorities that God has placed in the church, to the extend of an international level, national, or local, today?
Anyone would say that doesn't show obedience because God is not within the leader, nor minister, nor that he has been backsliding from the truth, and then, he should obey to God than to men. This is another excuse that some give to do whatever they want and like and be well with themselves. Nevertheless, this excuse like the previous one, is simply a pretext to exalt the pride and self ego of the mentioned person, because this person wants the have the truth over the church, and the ministerial body whom God has placed to lead it.
Where is that spirit of loyalty to God and to His church even if we have a disloyal leader over us? This fact would show the full trust in which God has the control of all things and that He will give the just payment to each and every one.
Just remind you the story of David with King Saul, like an example of faithfulness, even in the case of certain misleading superior authorities (1 Samuel 26), but I assure you that this is not the case if the church nowadays.
What has happened for faithfulness to be converted in unfaithfulness and the loyalty into disloyalty? The answer is very simple: Disobedience.
Disobedience is produced when lacking knowledge, or when violating voluntarily what it is known.
1. For the first situation my advice is: - Instruct yourself, pray, cultivate God’s Word in your life, and let God reveal His will in your life.
2. For the second situation: Repent yourself and turn to God keeping God’s revelation that has coming to your life, abandon your egoistic life and do not let be fooled around by the devil, surrender submission to God.
In conclusion, faithfulness is a virtue that is not being used in the church and if this doesn’t get trough, sadly we have to admit is anonymous term: - Unfaithfulness has dominion over us. So, we are looking for men and women faithful to God who keep His Word, are you one of them?
- Hopefully so.
